Abstract

This study proposes a model that not only focuses on the preservation of archaeological heritage but also on its reproduction through experimental archaeology and its integration into contemporary urban identity. Experimental archaeology contributes to cultural sustainability by making archaeological data functional and experiential in today’s context. The experimental reconstruction based on the Early Bronze Age Demircihöyük Settlement, planned to be implemented within the framework of the Research Center for Experimental Archaeology established at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, is a concrete example of this approach. The study emphasizes the testable nature of experimental archaeology through scientific methods and includes a comparative analysis of the proposed model with similar national and international projects. Furthermore, it addresses how cultural memory can be represented within urban memory through the reconstruction of architectural traditions, moving beyond the conventional conservation approach applied in archaeological sites in Türkiye.
