Abstract

Introduction: Climate change refers to alterations in the composition of the global atmosphere resulting from human activities and significantly affects ecosystems, natural resources, and public health. Environmental stressors such as extreme weather events can negatively influence women’s health from the preconception period through menopause, as well as childhood and adolescence, in biological, psychological, and social dimensions. These effects are associated with various perinatal risks, including preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, congenital anomalies, and mental health problems. Conclusion: Midwives play a critical role in reducing the health impacts of climate change. They should actively engage in environmentally friendly health education and advocacy, promotion of sustainable lifestyles, support for climate-resilient health systems, and disaster preparedness processes. Strengthening the key role of midwives in addressing climate change is therefore essential for protecting maternal, child, and community health
