Abstract
Johann Heinrich Boeckler (1611–1672) was one of the intellectuals of 17th-century Europe who possessed expertise in numerous disciplines. In addition to his identity as a theologian, he was an academic who produced works in the fields of history, philology, law and political science, and who exerted a long-lasting influence, particularly at Protestant universities. This study examines Boeckler's work Commentarivs Historico-Politicvs De Rebvs Tvrcicis, published in 1717, 45 years after his death, from the perspectives of the history of the book and bibliography. This book, prepared for publication by an editor identified by the initials N.C.J. using Boeckler's posthumous notes, contains a bibliography entitled Bibliotheca Scriptorum Turcicorum, which records 317 works relating to the Turks. However, the inclusion of 19 works published after Boeckler's death in 1672 reveals the editor's interventions during the preparation of the work for publication. Beyond its historical and political content, the work serves as a valuable source providing significant data on book production, compilation practices and the bibliographic tradition in 17th–18th-century Europe. In this respect, Rebus Turcicis constitutes an early example of the bibliographic tradition that served as a source for later works such as Hammer-Purgstall's. In this study, these bibliographic and compilation processes and their reasons are examined using the bibliographic analysis method.
Bununla birlikte, listede Boeckler'in 1672'deki ölümünden sonra basılmış 19 eserin yer alması, kitabın yayına hazırlanma sürecinde derleyicinin müdahalelerini açıkça ortaya koymaktadır.
