Abstract

This article examines the impact of three fundamental Scandinavian life philosophies—Hygge, Lykke, and Lagom—on graphic design. Hygge emphasizes creating cozy and comforting environments that foster warmth and intimacy; Lykke focuses on individual and collective happiness; and Lagom highlights balance and moderation. These philosophies not only shape everyday life but also constitute key elements of Scandinavian aesthetics, leaving a profound mark on the field of graphic design. In this context, the study investigates how Hygge’s cozy and intimate atmospheres are reflected in graphic design, which visual elements convey Lykke’s notions of happiness and social well-being, and how Lagom’s principles of balance and simplicity influence the design process. Through literature review and visual analysis, the research explores the historical origins, aesthetic principles, and contemporary applications of these philosophies in graphic design. The findings indicate that these philosophies contribute significantly to the creation of minimalist, user-friendly, and meaning-rich designs.
