Abstract
Aim: This study aims to reveal nursing students' perspective on the concept of marriage through metaphors and how they define marriage. Methods: The universe of research, which was conducted with metaphor analysis technique based on the phenomenological method, consisted of 3rd and 4th year nursing candidates studying at a university in the Central Anatolia region. The sample consisted of 127 students who agreed to participate in the research and produced metaphors. Data was obtained between February and March 2025 with a form prepared to determine the sociodemographic characteristics of the students and the metaphors they developed regarding marriage. Results: 127 valid metaphors revealing the students' perceptions of the concept of marriage were collected under 5 categories as "Harmony, stability and completion", "Effort, responsibility and struggle (an experience that requires)", "Unity that adds flavor to life", "Uncertainty, uncertainty (an event that involves)" and "Regret, disappointment and loss". Conclusion: In the study, students produced metaphors that included both positive and negative concepts related to marriage. However, the majority of the produced metaphors included positive concepts. It is recommended that studies be conducted with larger sample groups to evaluate the perspectives and attitudes of nursing students in different schools providing nursing education regarding marriage, and that courses that will increase the knowledge and awareness of nursing students about the rights that legal marriage brings to women and children be added to the curriculum.

Amaç: Bu çalışmada, hemşirelik bölümü öğrencilerinin metaforlar yoluyla evlilik kavramına bakışını, evliliği nasıl tanımladığını ortaya çıkarmak amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Fenomenolojik yönteme dayalı metafor analizi tekniği ile gerçekleştirilen araştırmanın evrenini, Orta Anadolu bölgesindeki bir üniversitede öğrenim gören 3. ve 4. sınıftaki hemşire adayları oluşturmuştur. Örneklem ise araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden ve metafor üreten 127 öğrenciden oluşmuştur. Veriler, öğrencilerin sosyodemografik özelliklerini ve evliliğe ilişkin geliştirdikleri metaforları belirlemek için hazırlanan form ile Şubat-Mart 2025 tarihleri arasında elde edilmiştir. Bulgular: Öğrencilerin evlilik kavramına ilişkin algılarını ortaya koyan 127 geçerli metafor 5 kategori altında, “Uyum, istikrar ve tamamlanma”, “Emek, sorumluluk ve mücadele (gerektiren bir deneyim)”, “Hayata lezzet katan birliktelik” ve “Belirsizlik, bilinmezlik (içeren bir olgu)” ve “Pişmanlık, hayal kırıklığı ve kayboluş” olarak toplanmıştır. Sonuç: Çalışmada, öğrenciler evlilik ile ilgili hem olumlu hem de olumsuz kavramları içeren metaforlar üretmişlerdir. Ancak, üretilen metaforların çoğunluğu olumlu kavramlar içermiştir.
