Abstract

The concept of a green campus has gained importance alongside the concepts of sustainability and corporate social responsibility. In a sense, green campus initiatives are activities aimed at implementing sustainable development goals within universities. This study aims to investigate the perceptions of university staff at Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University regarding the green campus concept in line with corporate social responsibility. Within this framework, interviews were conducted with 28 university staff members selected using a purposive sampling method. Additionally, a SWOT analysis was conducted based on the interview findings. The results of the research indicate that the university administration has an environmentally sensitive and respectful green campus policy; university staff members demonstrate high awareness of green campus initiatives and possess a high level of environmental consciousness; a solar energy system is present on the campus grounds; energy-efficient devices and LED lighting systems are used in campus buildings and outdoor lighting, certain improvement initiatives for students with disabilities are being implemented, social responsibility initiatives are supported by the university administration, and the university campus features green spaces and is well-organized and planned. It is anticipated that this study will raise awareness among university staff regarding corporate social responsibility, green campus initiatives, and zero-waste practices; guide administrators in developing green campus policies and action plans; contribute to the mitigation of environmental issues in line with sustainable development goals; and make significant contributions to the relevant literature.
