Abstract
Eurasian geopolitics has historically been at the center of international competition and has evolved into a multidisciplinary field of research in contemporary times. Various political perspectives have been proposed regarding this region, and ideas shaped around the two poles—namely the United States and Russia—have played a prominent role in discussions on Classical and Neo-Eurasianism. Numerous scientific theoretical/applied studies have been conducted, particularly focusing on the international competition between the two countries. In this context, it is evident that Zbigniew Brzezinski and Aleksandr Dugin have not only guided political figures of their time but also reinforced the influence of their theories on current policies. This study aims to analyze the perspectives of U.S. security strategist Zbigniew Brzezinski and Russian geopolitical theorist Aleksandr Dugin on the concept of Eurasia. By examining the geopolitical theories and practical approaches of both thinkers, the research seeks to explain how policies prioritizing the interests of regional countries have been shaped. Brzezinski’s geopolitical strategies help elucidate the motivations behind U.S. support for Ukraine, whereas Dugin’s approach asserts that Ukraine should fall within Russia’s geopolitical sphere of influence. The impact of these two thinkers’ ideas and strategic visions is particularly striking in the context of the Russia–Ukraine War.
Çalışma, ABD’nin güvenlik stratejisti Zbigniew Brzezinski ile Rus jeopolitik teorisyeni Aleksandr Dugin’in Avrasya konusundaki bakış açılarını analiz etmeyi hedeflemektedir. Böylece her iki düşünürün jeopolitik teori ve uygulamalarını inceleyerek, bölge ülkelerinin çıkarlarını önceleyen politikaların nasıl şekillendiğini açıklamayı amaçlamaktadır. Brzezinski’nin jeopolitik stratejileri, ABD’nin Ukrayna’ya verdiği desteğin ardındaki motivasyonları açıklar nitelikte iken; Dugin’in yaklaşımları, Ukrayna’nın Rusya’nın jeopolitik nüfuz alanında bulunması gerektiğini savunmaktadır.
