Abstract
Trade, the main factor of economic development and social welfare, has been on the agenda of countries/societies for centuries. Economic dynamism has fostered new economic schools driven by the liberalization trend in trade markets where buyers and sellers meet. However, in Islamic economics, which introduced trade liberalization fourteen centuries ago, the teachings derived from the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) continue to influence ideal markets in 21st-century economies. In this context, the rules that address the daily lives of households and those at the lowest income levels illuminate the balance of ideal markets (supply-demand equilibrium). The aim of this study is to evaluate the principles of ideal trade from the perspective of the Quran and hadiths, and, through a qualitative content analysis method, provide a broad assessment of universal market standards in the 21st century. Thus, the sustainability of measurement, weight, and balance concepts, as mentioned in the Quran within the circular economy framework, is crucial. It has been identified that the statements made by the Last Prophet in the regions where he lived are still valid in the 21st-century trade markets. Moreover, the commercial rules in the Quran and hadiths, which initiated a domino effect from small markets to industrial ones and spread across all sectors, have had a direct socioeconomic impact on society.
Özet
Ekonomik kalkınmanın ve toplumsal refahın temel faktörü olan ticaret dalı asırlardır ülkelerin/toplumların gündemini meşgul etmektedir. Alıcı ve satıcıların karşılaştığı ticaret piyasalarında ekonomik dinamizm liberalleşme akımı ile yeni iktisadi ekoller geliştirmiştir. Öte yandan on dört asır öncesinden ticaret serbestisi getiren İslâm iktisadında, Kur'ân-ı Kerîm ve Hz. Peygamberden (s.a.s) nakledilen bilgilerde 21. yüzyıl ekonomilerindeki piyasalara yön vermede önemli kaideler mevcuttur.
