Abstract

In a world order where resources are limited, the concept of sustainability and its variables are frequently researched due to their importance. The aim of the study is to analyze the relationship between ecological footprint and carbon emission as representatives of climate change and environmental problems, sustainable development index as sustainability indicator, financial development index as representatives of life expectancy and financial development, access to financial services and market depth indicators based on the boostrap method. As a result of the analysis, it was found that financial development negatively affects the carbon footprint and sustainable development indices; while the variable of access to financial services negatively affects sustainable development, it positively affects the carbon footprint. It has been observed that the carbon emission variable has a positive effect on most financial market indicators. The findings are expected to be original and meaningful for policy makers and market participants.
