Abstract

The level of socioeconomic well-being plays a significant role in determining countries’ economic and social policies. In this regard, the aim of this study is to classify the level of socioeconomic well-being—which provides information about individuals’ living conditions—using various indicators. The study states that economic indicators alone are insufficient for determining the level of socioeconomic well-being; social indicators must also be taken into account. In this research, the multidimensional structure of socioeconomic well-being is taken into account; the K-Means clustering method is applied using indicators related to economic, health, labor force, and gender dimensions. The Elbow method is used to determine the optimal number of clusters. The findings of the clustering analysis indicate that there are three distinct cluster structures within the indicators used to represent socioeconomic well-being in OECD countries during the 2009–2023 period. Accordingly, it is determined that the indicators used play a significant role in clustering countries based on their socioeconomic well-being levels.
