Abstract
Cultural transmission plays an important role in enabling students to develop their language skills and gain a proper understanding of the target language. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship that students learning Turkish in Pakistan establish with Turkish culture and to determine the impact of this relationship on their Turkish language learning processes. The sample consists of 38 students learning Turkish at the Department of Turkology at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), the University of Karachi, IBA University, and the Yunus Emre Institute in Pakistan. The data were collected online through a semi-structured questionnaire developed by the researchers. While the quantitative data were analyzed using frequency and percentage analyses in SPSS, the qualitative data obtained from the open-ended questions were analyzed through content analysis within a descriptive research framework. The findings indicate that positive attitudes toward Turkish culture increase students’ motivation to learn Turkish and support the language learning process. In particular, cultural elements such as Turkish television series, music, cuisine, and history were found to increase students’ interest in the Turkish language. Based on the findings, it is concluded that incorporating cultural elements more systematically and comprehensively into course materials and curricula for teaching Turkish as a foreign language would enhance the quality of the language learning process.

Öğrencilerin dil becerilerini geliştirmeleri ve hedef dili doğru bir şekilde kavrayabilmeleri için kültür aktarımı önemli bir yere sahiptir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Pakistan'da Türkçe öğrenen öğrencilerin Türk kültürü ile kurdukları ilişkiyi ve bu ilişkinin Türkçe öğrenme süreçleri üzerindeki etkisini tespit etmektir. Çalışmanın örneklemini Pakistan'da NUML Üniversitesi Türkoloji öğrencileri, Karaçi Üniversitesi, IBA Üniversitesi ve Yunus Emre Enstitüsü’nde Türkçe öğrenen 38 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Veriler, araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen yarı yapılandırılmış anket formu aracılığıyla çevrim içi olarak toplanmıştır. Nicel veriler SPSS programında frekans ve yüzde analizleriyle değerlendirilirken, açık uçlu sorulardan elde edilen nitel veriler betimsel tarama modeli kullanılarak içerik analizi yöntemiyle çözümlenmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar, Türk kültürüne yönelik olumlu tutumun Türkçe öğrenme motivasyonunu artırdığını ve dil öğrenme sürecini desteklediğini göstermektedir. Özellikle Türk dizileri, müzik, yemek kültürü ve tarih gibi kültürel unsurların öğrencilerin dile olan ilgisini artırdığı belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen veriler doğrultusunda, Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretiminde kültürel unsurların ders materyalleri ve öğretim programlarında daha planlı ve kapsamlı bir şekilde ele alınmasının, öğrenme sürecinin niteliğini artıracağı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
