Abstract
This study aims to ascertain the perceptions of virtuous leadership attributed to school principals and the organizational happiness levels of teachers operating within General Anatolian High Schools. Additionally, it investigates potential variances in these perceptions across diverse demographic variables and elucidates the empirical nexus between the two constructs. Grounded in a correlational survey model, the research population encompasses 2,722 teachers from 57 General Anatolian High Schools in the central districts of Izmir during the 2023-2024 academic year. The study group comprises 343 teachers selected via a stratified sampling method. Data acquisition was executed through the “Virtuous Leadership Scale” and the “Organizational Happiness Scale for Teachers.” The analytical framework utilized descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, correlation, and simple regression analyses. Findings revealed that within the dimensions of virtuous leadership, “prudence” garnered the highest perception, whereas “courage” was rated the lowest. Regarding organizational happiness, “interpersonal relations” emerged as the most prominent dimension, while “managerial behaviors” were at the lowest level. Inferential analyses indicated that virtuous leadership perceptions differed significantly only in the “courage” sub-dimension based on school type. Conversely, organizational happiness exhibited significant variations across specific sub-dimensions relative to age, seniority, career stage, and school type. Ultimately, a robust, positive, and significant correlation was identified between the virtuous leadership behaviors of school principals and organizational happiness. Furthermore, it was concluded that virtuous leadership significantly predicted organizational happiness, explaining 53% ($R^2 = .53$) of the total variance.
