Abstract
This study aims to examine academic research on the concept of urban consciousness in Türkiye through a systematic review. The main objective is to present a comprehensive picture of studies published between 2008 and 2025 by analyzing their temporal distribution, methodological tendencies, sampling preferences, and research types (explanatory/exploratory). In this context, studies identified through searches conducted in DergiPark, the Council of Higher Education National Thesis Center, and Google Scholar were evaluated according to predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, and a total of 32 studies were included in the systematic review. The findings show that the literature on urban consciousness has intensified significantly, especially in the post-2020 period, and that the studies are largely based on quantitative and explanatory research designs. In terms of sampling preferences, the general urban population appears to be the dominant study group, whereas qualitative and exploratory studies remain relatively limited. The results of the systematic review reveal that the field has developed primarily around measurement- and level-determination-oriented approaches and that there is a significant gap in micro-scale, qualitative, and interpretive research. Bu çalışma, Türkiye’de kentlilik bilinci kavramını ele alan akademik araştırmaları sistematik derleme yöntemiyle incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Araştırmanın temel amacı, 2008–2025 yılları arasında yayımlanan çalışmaların dönemsel dağılımını, yöntemsel eğilimlerini, örneklem tercihlerini ve araştırma türlerini (açıklayıcı/keşfedici) bütüncül bir çerçevede ortaya koymaktır. Bu doğrultuda, DergiPark, YÖK Ulusal Tez Merkezi ve Google Scholar veri tabanlarında gerçekleştirilen taramalar sonucunda belirlenen çalışmalar, önceden tanımlanmış dâhil etme ve dışlama ölçütleri çerçevesinde değerlendirilmiş ve toplam 32 çalışma sistematik derlemeye dâhil edilmiştir. İnceleme bulguları, kentlilik bilinci literatürünün özellikle 2020 sonrası dönemde belirgin biçimde yoğunlaştığını ve çalışmaların büyük ölçüde nicel ile açıklayıcı tasarımlara dayandığını göstermektedir. Örneklem tercihleri açısından genel kent nüfusunun baskın olduğu, buna karşılık nitel ve keşfedici çalışmaların daha sınırlı kaldığı görülmektedir. Sistematik derleme sonuçları, alanın yöntemsel olarak ölçme ve düzey belirleme odaklı geliştiğini; mikro ölçekli, nitel ve yorumlayıcı araştırmalara yönelik önemli bir boşluk bulunduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Bu yönüyle çalışma, Türkiye’de kentlilik bilinci literatürünün mevcut durumunu görünür kılmakta ve gelecekteki araştırmalar için yönlendirici bir çerçeve sunmaktadır.
