Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the relationship between physical activity levels and perceived well-being and wellness in adult individuals. In today’s world, technological developments, the widespread adoption of sedentary lifestyles, and the decline in daily movement have increased the importance of physical activity not only for physical health but also for psychological and social health. In this context, the study aimed to reveal the role of regular physical activity in the well-being and perceived wellness of adult individuals. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted within the framework of a quantitative research approach using the relational survey model. The sample of the study consisted of 300 adults aged 18 years and older who voluntarily agreed to participate. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form, the WHO-5 Well-Being Index, and the Perceived Wellness Scale were used as data collection tools. The data obtained were analyzed using the SPSS 28.0 package program, and in addition to descriptive statistics, correlation analyses were performed. Results: The findings of the study showed that there was a positive and statistically significant relationship between physical activity level and well-being measured by the WHO-5. However, no significant relationship was found between physical activity level and the total perceived wellnessscore. Thisfinding suggests that physical activity may play a more direct role in adults’ short-term subjective well-being, whereas perceived wellness, as a more multidimensional construct, cannot be explained solely by physical activity. Conclusion: The results revealed that physical activity is an important lifestyle behavior that contributes to adults’ feeling more energetic, more positive, and more functional. However, perceived wellness was found to be a multidimensional structure shaped by the interaction of many factors such as social relationships, living conditions, psychological resilience, stress management, and environmental influences. Therefore, although physical activity is considered an important factor in supporting subjective well-being, it is not sufficient by itself to enhance perceived wellness. In conclusion, in addition to promoting physical activity, it is recommended that holistic interventions aimed at improving quality of life, social support, and psychological well-being should also be planned in order to promote adult health.
