Abstract
The vocabulary of a language is formed as a result of the reflection of a nation's cultural heritage, philosophy of life, and the feelings and thoughts in its mind in that language. Elements such as idioms, proverbs, and slang found in the vocabulary of a language reflect the people who communicate in that language and the phenomena in their minds. Our language, Turkish, is quite rich in terms of vocabulary. Elements such as terms, proverbs, idioms, antonyms, relational words, loanwords, frequently used nouns, and verbs are important building blocks of our language's basic vocabulary. Phrases with two words that occupy a significant place in our language are one of the linguistic elements of Turkish that date back to ancient times. They can be traced from the Orhun Turkish of the earliest literary texts to the written texts of today. In its simplest definition, a compound word is two words placed one after the other to form a unit and evoke a concept. However, there are also compounds consisting of three or more words in our language. These linguistic elements have been used by writers and poets in their works to add richness, power, and harmony to the narrative. This article attempts to analyze the structures of dilemmas created by action and action-related words in Yaşar Kemal's work “Kuşlar da Gitti” in which he stands out as a novelist. In the work, dilemmas created by action and action-related words have been identified and are listed alphabetically along with the sentences in which they appear in the text. The purpose of this article is to demonstrate that, in Turkish, there are not only compounds formed with nouns and noun-like words, but also compounds formed with verbs and verb-like words, and to explain their morphological features.
