Abstract
Adventure tourism has emerged as a prominent leisure activity in many destinations in recent years, and adventure-oriented tourism activities are gaining in popularity day by day. Adventure tourism is designed to allow tourists to participate in adrenaline-fueled activities that help them feel good—even if only for a short time—by escaping the stress and intensity of daily life, thereby achieving a sense of fulfillment or renewal. The increase in tourists’ life satisfaction levels following these activities can have a positive impact in terms of self-actualization and gaining value within the context of tourism. This study aims to evaluate the life satisfaction levels of tourists participating in adventure tourism in the Cappadocia Region in terms of demographic variables. To this end, the study population was defined as tourists participating in adventure tourism activities in the Cappadocia Region, and data was collected using convenience sampling. The Life Satisfaction Scale, developed by Deaner et al. (1985) and translated into Turkish by Köker (1991), was used to collect the data. Various statistical analyses were conducted to test the research hypotheses developed in line with the study’s theoretical framework. In order to test the research hypotheses developed in line with the study’s theoretical framework, various statistical analyses were conducted. The findings revealed that the perceptions of life satisfaction among tourists participating in adventure tourism differ according to the variables of age, education level, and marital status. Similarly, it was found that the benefits derived by tourists participating in adventure tourism vary according to age, income, and marital status. In this context, businesses providing services for adventure tourism must consider not only the age criterion but also other demographic characteristics when determining their target audience and designing activities
