Abstract

Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the level of paramedics' use of current and good published evidence in their fields for patient recovery, good service planning and execution. Method: In the research using the descriptive research model; The universe of the research consists of paramedics working in private and public ambulance stations. The snowball sampling method was used as the sampling method, and the data collection form consisting of 17 questions prepared in line with the literature was filled out via Google Forms. 163 paramedics who agreed to participate in the study were included in the study and the obtained data were evaluated in a computer environment using SPSS 22.0 statistical program. Results: It was observed that 39.9% of the paramedics did not receive evidence-based practice training in the education process, and 52.1% of them did not receive evidence-based practice training in the institution they work. 31.9% of the paramedics participating in the study did not know the concept of evidence-based practice and the majority (27%) stated that they benefited from the experience as a source of information. 66.3% of paramedics stated that they do not follow current guidelines, and 90.2% have no scientific publications. Conclusion: As a result of our study, the awareness of paramedics about evidence-based practices; has been determined that it is very low in knowing the definition of evidence-based practice, receiving training on evidence-based practices in the graduated school and in the institution where it works, literature review, following up-to-date guidelines, making scientific publications, and participating in scientific meetings.
