Abstract

The Balkan geography constitutes a common culture area when different cultures that share these lands live together. Adakale, a little insular that witnessed the historical and political post of the Danube with its cultural treasure and disappeared from a map as a result of the construction of a dam in 1970 with the decision taken by the governments of Yugoslavia and Romania. This study aims to conserve the cultural heritage of this region and transfer it to the collective memory by reviving the hidden Adakale folk songs using Markov Chains based on stochastic analysis techniques. Firstly, by making use of previous compilations on the geography centered on Adakale, the most commonly used makam structures, basis melodic motifs and rhythm structures in the region were studied. Then, a Markov chain was used to generate melodies for works with lyrics but no tune and the melody was placed on a selected rhythmic structure.
