Abstract
Objective: The objective of this study is to evaluate the information quality and interaction levels of dairy product content on YouTube in terms of professional profiles. Method: A search was conducted on YouTube using four Turkish keywords related to dairy and health. Seventy-six original videos were analyzed. The videos were evaluated by independent observers using the Video Information and Quality Index (VIQI), Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) criteria, and Video Power Index (VPI). Comparisons were made according to professional groups (doctor, dietitian, other) and attitudes toward milk and dairy products. Results: 60.5% of the videos were uploaded by doctors, and 13.2% by dietitians. The most frequently mentioned product was milk, followed by yogurt, other dairy products, and cheese. The frequency of mentioning cheese showed a significant difference between professional groups (χ²=6.398, p=0.035). Although the median VPI values were not statistically significant between groups, they were found to be lowest among dietitians (13.45) (p=0.227). No significant differences were found between groups in terms of VIQI and JAMA scores (p>0.05). Attitudes toward milk in the videos were mostly negative among doctors and mostly positive among dietitians and the other group. Yogurt, cheese, and other dairy products were mostly evaluated positively across all professional groups. Conclusion: Dairy products are an important food group that should be included the diet; therefore, increasing the amount of content that provides accurate and reliable information to the public on platforms with large audiences, such as YouTube, is important for public health.
Videolar bağımsız gözlemciler tarafından Video Information and Quality Index (VIQI), Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) kriterleri ve Video Power Index (VPI) kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir.
