Bir metni anlamak, metnin kurucusu olan müellifin dünyası ile metnin kendisine nüfuz etme süreçlerine bağlıdır. Bu süreçleri gerçekleştirmek için kuşkusuz okur her iki olguyu kavramanın hermenötik enstrümanlarına ihtiyaç duyar. Bu enstrümanların niteliği metnin kendine özel bağlamı ile yakından ilişkilidir. Anlama ve yorumlama işleminde merkeze metni aldığımızda müellifin metne vermiş olduğu başlığın mutlaka dikkate alınması gereken bir gerçek olduğu ortadadır. Bu çalışma anlama ve yorumlama etkinliğine hermenötik bir katkı olarak eser başlıklarını yorumsamacı bir şekilde okumayı ve analiz etmeyi önermekte ve bu bağlamda klasik ilim geleneğindeki bazı metinler üzerinde bunu tatbik etmeye çalışmaktadır
