Abstract
In this study, the functioning of love and marriage motifs in Turkish folk romances is examined through the example of the İpar Gülü narrative. The object of analysis is the İpar Gülü narrative included in Ahmet Olgun’s work Yörük Efsaneleri. The study is conducted using qualitative research methods based on document analysis, and the motifs identified in the narrative are classified according to the “T–Sex/Marriage” category in Thompson’s Motif Index of Folk-Literature. The analysis reveals that motifs such as love, forced marriage, paternal opposition to marriage, and marriage customs constitute the structural core of the narrative. Although the İpar Gülü narrative contains extraordinary and belief-based elements characteristic of legends, it demonstrates a strong affiliation with the folk romance tradition in terms of its plot structure, love-centered personal conflicts, cause–effect-based narrative progression, and character depth. In this respect, the study highlights the significance of evaluating the İpar Gülü narrative within the framework of the folk romance tradition based on its motif structure.

Bu çalışmada, Türk halk hikâyelerinde aşk ve evlilik motiflerinin işleyişi, İpar Gülü Hikâyesi örneği üzerinden incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın inceleme nesnesini, Ahmet Olgun’un Yörük Efsaneleri adlı eserinde yer alan İpar Gülü anlatısı oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesine dayalı olarak yürütülmüş; anlatıda yer alan motifler, Thompson’ın Motif Index of Folk-Literature adlı eserinde yer alan “T-Cinsiyet/Evlilik” başlığı esas alınarak tespit edilmiştir. İnceleme sonucunda, hikâyede aşk, zorla evlilik, babanın evliliğe muhalefeti ve evlenme âdetleri gibi motiflerin anlatının temel çatısını oluşturduğu görülmüştür. Anlatıda yer alan bu motiflerin, toplumsal değerler ve geleneksel yapı ile yakından ilişkili olduğu belirlenmiştir. Aynı zamanda İpar Gülü anlatısının, efsaneye özgü olağanüstü ve inanç temelli unsurlar içermekle birlikte; olay örgüsü, kişisel ve aşk merkezli çatışma yapısı, olayların neden-sonuç ilişkisine dayanması ve karakter derinliği bakımından halk hikâyesi geleneğiyle güçlü bir ilişki kurduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Çalışma, İpar Gülü anlatısının halk hikâyesi geleneği içerisinde değerlendirilmesi ve Türk halk anlatılarında motif temelli çözümlemelere katkı sağlaması bakımından önem taşımaktadır.
