Abstract

One of the most important components of a democratic political system is political parties. Parties aiming at gaining power face a common challenge in realizing these goals and activities: financing. While parties could operate with traditional sources of income when they were established, the decline in these revenues in the 21st century has led to a significant increase in their need for financing. Treasury aid is one of the models developed worldwide to address the financing needs of parties. This qualitative study focuses on the treasury aid regulation in Norway, which follows the Scandinavian model. The primary reason for choosing Norway in this study is its frequent ranking as the top country in the Democracy Index published annually by The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) since 2006.The study concludes that the political financing practices in Norway—a country with a mature democracy according to the Democracy Index—align with the principles of democracy and the principle of fiscal equity.

Çalışmada Norveç’in seçilmesindeki temel etken The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) tarafından 2006 yılından beri her yıl yayınlanan Demokrasi Endeksi’nde genellikle birinci olmasıdır.
