Abstract

The present bibliometric study provides a comprehensive review of the publication trends of ReCALL – one of the distinguished academic venues in CALL research. Two hundred seventy-four articles published between 2009 and 2024 were analysed to reveal the relevant authors, productive institutions, influential countries, impactful papers, and dominant research themes. Due to the discrepancies in the Web of Science (WoS) and the Biblioshiny tool, the analyses were performed via a spreadsheet, including the cross-checked metadata. Our study indicated that Melinda Dooly and Sangmin-Michelle Lee were the most prolific authors, and single authorship was the most common collaboration pattern. Adam Mickiewicz University was the most productive institution, while China produced the most articles. The thematic evolution moved from exploratory technological integration and pedagogical experimentation to learner-centred focus, digital integration, automation, and sustainability. The findings suggest the applicability and adaptability of CALL systems across various contexts and signal potential study gaps for prospective researchers. With these findings, the study contributes valuable insights into academic scholarship through potential knowledge exchanges between researchers, educators, and administrators.
