It is known that there is a scarcity of sources about the Erzurum region, whose history dates back to ancient times. The region, which came under Turkish control after the Battle of Malazgirt, quickly became a Turkish-Islamic settlement. The region, whose importance increased even more during the Ottoman Empire, was used as an important base, especially in the campaigns against Persia.
