Abstract
In this study, ergonomic evaluations of hospital office workers regarding basic office furniture such as desks, chairs and cabinets were examined. The universe of this study consists of the personnel working in a public hospital in Trabzon. The survey was applied to the participants face-to-face and the analyses were made on 400 surveys. The findings of the study indicated that critical ergonomic elements such as height adjustment, wrist and foot support were largely missing from the desks; features such as lumbar support, backrest height adjustment, and headrests were inadequate in chairs; and cabinets failed to fully meet layout and safety requirements. Some ergonomic differences were identified based on gender, age, and type of work, with female employees and healthcare personnel experiencing ergonomic problems more frequently. Furthermore, it was observed that employees' knowledge of ergonomic furniture dimensions and standards was low. In general, it was concluded that work environments should be ergonomically improved, the use of adjustable and supportive furniture should be increased, ergonomic awareness should be strengthened, and manufacturers should be more directed towards ergonomic design principles.
