Abstract
Objective: This study aims to establish the structure, application method, and design of the three-word story making projective test (TOBB ETÜ Gürcan Test- TEG) and to determine the test guide for future studies. Methods: Twenty four healthy volunteer university students were evaluated in the study. After the test was applied to the participants according to the instructions, they were asked to fill out the participant form and the Symptom Checklist (SCL-90). The clinician form, which included questions linked to the questions in the participant form, was filled out by the practitioner with the analysis of the story. Results: The consistency of the linked questions in the participant and clinician forms and the correlation of the Likert-type questions were examined, and high consistency and positive significant correlation were determined in all items. When the SCL-90 subtest index scores of the participants with and without a related theme in the story were compared (somatization, obsessive-compulsive, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, anger-hostility, phobic anxiety), the sub-index score was found to be significantly higher in the group with the theme. Conclusion: There are a limited number of projective tests for understanding the unconscious processes of the person and for use in therapy applications. It is thought that the test will make a significant contribution to scientific applications in order to understand the patient and to be applied in studies with the newly developed test. Studies with larger samples and studies with control and patient groups are needed to associate it with psychopathologies.
