Abstract
History is the history of heroes and great men. When heroes and great men are removed from history, little remains of history. Great men are also men who know how to find great helpers and benefit from their services. Great men who have accomplished great things in history are often remembered with their assistants. One of the greatest heroes Turkish history has ever seen is Mahmud of Gazne. One of Mahmud's most trusted commanders and assistants is Abû'l-Hâris Arslan Jadhib. Arslan Jadhib is an important person in the period of Mahmud of Ghazni, especially in the history of the Ghaznavids. There are few scientific records about Arslan Jadhib in primary and secondary sources. However, these scattered and insufficient records were gathered together in research works and no independent study was made about them. It is seen that Arslan Jadhib took on important duties in his military and administrative career. In this study, the life of Arslan Jadhib, who served as the governor of Hajib, Tus and sipahsâlâr during the reign of Mahmud of Ghazni, and the military and administrative roles he assumed in the Ghaznavid state will be tried to be revealed.

Tarih kahramanların ve büyük adamların tarihidir. Kahramanlar ve büyük adamlar tarihten çıkarıldığı zaman, tarihten geriye çok az şey kalır. Büyük adamlar, aynı zamanda büyük yardımcılar bulup, onların hizmetlerinden faydalanmasını bilen adamlardır. Tarihte büyük işler başarmış büyük adamlar, çoğu kez yardımcıları ile birlikte anılır. Türk Tarihin gördüğü en büyük kahramanlardan biri Gazneli Mahmud’dur. Mahmud’un en güvendiği komutanlardan ve yardımcılarından biri ise Ebû’l-Hâris Arslan Câzib’dir. Arslan Câzib, Gazneli Mahmud dönemi bilhassa da Gazneliler tarihi için önemli bir şahıstır. Arslan Câzib ile ilgili ana ve ikinci el kaynaklarda azda olsa ilmi kayıtlara tesadüf edilmektedir. Fakat bu dağınık ve yetersiz kayıtlar, araştırma eserlerde bir araya toplanarak hakkında müstakil bir çalışma yapılmamıştır. Arslan Câzib’in askerî ve idarî kariyerinde önemli vazifeler üstelendiği görülmektedir. Bu çalışmada Gazneli Mahmud’un hükümdarlığı zamanında onun hizmetinde Hâcib, Tûs Valisi ve sipehsâlâr olarak görev yapmış olan Arslan Câzib’in hayatı ile beraber Gazneliler devletinde üstlendiği askerî ve idarî roller ortaya konulmaya çalışılacaktır.
