Abstract

This study examines the Prehistoric periods of Limantepe, located in the region known as Troad in Northwest Anatolia. Limantepe, which holds an important place in the research of North Aegean cultures, has been inhabited both in prehistoric and ancient times. Known as Larisa in ancient times, Limantepe is also a mound settlement dating back to the Chalcolithic period. The limited number of studies conducted at Limantepe and the focus of these studies on the ancient periods have resulted in limited information about the prehistoric periods of the settlement. However, Limantepe is located at an important junction connecting the Aegean Sea and the Çanakkale Bosphorus, making it a key location for observing cultural relations between Anatolia and the Aegean. Through surface surveys and our studies at Limantepe, we have attempted to shed light on the prehistoric periods of the mound based on archaeological findings.

Özet

Bu çalışmada, Kuzeybatı Anadolu’da Troas olarak tanımlanan bölgede yer alan Limantepe’nin Prehistorik dönemleri ele alınmıştır. Kuzey Ege kültürlerin araştırılmasında önemli bir yer tutan Limantepe, hem tarih öncesi hem de antik dönemlerde yerleşim görmüştür. Antik dönemlerde Larisa olarak adlandırılan Limantepe, aynı zamanda Kalkolitik döneme kadar uzanan bir höyük yerleşimidir. Limantepe’de yapılan araştırmaların az sayıda olması ve çalışmaların daha çok antik dönemlere yoğunlaşması, yerleşimin tarih öncesi dönemlerine ilişkin bilgilerimizin sınırlı olmasına neden olmuştur. Oysaki Limantepe, Ege Denizi ve Çanakkale Boğazı’na açılan bağlantı güzergâhında olması aynı zamanda Anadolu ve Ege arasında kültürel ilişkilerin görülebileceği önemli bir konumda yer almaktadır. Yüzey araştırmaları ile Limantepe’de gerçekleştirdiğimiz çalışmalarda, arkeolojik bulgular üzerinden höyüğün tarih öncesi dönemleri aydınlatılmaya çalışılmıştır.
