Abstract

Tourism is a sector where service products are offered and consumed, and human relations come to the fore. Tourist behaviours are the behaviours at the social level that occur during and during the tour in the visited region. It is expected that these behaviours will be examined through participatory observation in guided tours and that explanatory approaches to tourist behaviour will be discussed after this examination. The main question of the research is: “What kind of behaviour do tourists participating in the daily Ephesus tour from cruise ships exhibit?” in daily tours of cruise ships. A semi-structured observation form was created regarding tourist behaviours towards guided tours, and tourist behaviours at the social level (interaction, shopping, bargaining, tipping, timing, tourist photography, food and beverage preference, catering, tourist-staff relations, etc.) were developed by Acar (2018) was observed in this context. The data obtained in the study was obtained from 32 guided tours participating in the daily tour from Kuşadası port. The data was obtained in the 32-day part of the 60-day data collection period between 01 June and 31 July 2023. It has been observed that the observed tourists have a high tendency to prefer local beverages and consume local foods, while shopping, their tendency to bargain in luxury goods is low, but their tendency to bargain in products such as economic souvenirs is high.
