Determining Teacher and Student Opinions on Rotating Class System

Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to determine student and teacher opinions on rotating class system which is widely used abroad. To do that, the “Teacher and Student Questionnaires for Rotating Class System” developed by Ersöz was administered to teachers and students after they were revised. The study group of this study was teachers and secondary school students at 8 official secondary school of the Ministry of National Education in Ordu province during 2014-2015 academic year. All the teachers and students in these 8 schools were contacted and the questionnaires were administered to volunteering 170 teachers and 767 students. As a result of the research, it has been seen that the teachers’ opinions related to the rotating class system, are on the more positive side. With the rotating class system, classes with different content will not be carried out in the same classroom but in environments that are organized and equipped according to the needs of that class. It is believed that this could have impacts in improving student motivation and success.
Özet
Çalışmanın temel amacı, yurt dışında birçok okulda uygulanan branş derslik sistemine dair öğretmen ve öğrenci görüşlerinin belirlenmesidir. Bu bağlamda öğretmen ve öğrencilere Ersöz, (2012) tarafından geliştirilen “Branş Derslik Sistemi Öğretmen ve Öğrenci Anketleri” revize edilerek uygulanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma evrenini 2014-2015 eğitim ve öğretim yılında Ordu İl merkezinde bulunan ve Milli Eğitim Bakanlığına bağlı 8 resmi ortaokulda görev yapan öğretmenler ve ortaokul öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Bu okullarda bulunan öğretmen ve öğrencilerin tamamına ulaşılarak gönüllülük esasına göre toplam 170 öğretmen ve 767 öğrenciye anket uygulanmıştır Araştırmanın sonucunda öğretmen ve öğrencilerin branş derslik sistemine yönelik görüşlerinin daha çok olumlu yönde olduğu görülmüştür. Branş derslik sistemi ile içeriği birbirinden farklı olan dersler aynı sınıf ortamında değil, içeriğine göre düzenlenmiş ve donatılmış bir ortamda yapılabilir. Bu durumun öğrencilerin motivasyon ve başarısını artırmada etkileri olabileceği düşünülmektedir.
