Comparison of Turkish and German Educational Systems in Terms of Secondary Education and Biology Course

Abstract
Countries improve their educational systems in order to raise quality people. As in different educational systems, presenting differences and similarities among different secondary biology education in different countries may allow to asses these systems from different perspectives. In this study Turkish and German educational systems are compared in terms of secondary education and biology education. For this aim, the biology course in the Baviera district of Germany is analyzed. In German educational system, unlike Turkish educational system secondary education is obligatory and is organized into two levels. There are differences between these two educational systems in terms of course hours and curricula. The biology course in German educational system is organized more course hours and intensive than Turkish educational system.

Ülkeler, nitelikli insan yetiştirmek için eğitim sistemlerini, fen bilimlerindeki yenilikleri de dahil ederek geliştirmektedirler. Farklı eğitim sistemleri arasında olduğu gibi, orta öğretim biyoloji eğitiminde de fark ve benzerliklerin ortaya konması, eğitimde elde edilen sonuçların farklı açılardan değerlendirilmesini sağlayabilir. Bu çalışmada, Türk ve Alman eğitim sistemleri, orta öğretim ve biyoloji eğitimi açısından karşılaştırılmıştır. Bu amaçla, Federal Almanya'nın en büyük eyaleti olan Bavyera eyaleti seçilerek, biyoloji dersinin bu eyaletdeki işlenişi ele alınmıştır. Türk eğitim sisteminde zorunlu olmayan orta öğretim sistemine karşın Alman eğitim sisteminde orta öğretim zorunludur ve iki kademe olarak düzenlenmiştir. Bu sistemlerde biyoloji dersi, ders saatleri ve öğretim programları açısından farklılıklar içermektedir. Alman eğitim sisteminde biyoloji dersi Türk eğitim sistemine göre daha fazla ders saati ile ve daha yoğun olarak düzenlenmiştir.
