An Investigation of the Attitudes of Students' Toward the Student Selection Examination (SSE) Through a Number of Variables

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate the attitudes of students toward the Student Selection Examination based on some variables. The research group consisted of 258 students from three private institutions in Ankara. A Likert type attitude scale was used in data collection. Cronbach-alpha for the attitude scale was found to be 0.88. In statistical analysis, frequency, arithmetical mean, t-test, ANAVO and factor analysis were performed. According to the statistical analysis, attitudes of the students were affected by attending a private course. However, attitudes of the students, taking the Student Selection Examination, did not change by their sex, types of scores, types of high school and grades.

Özet

Bu arastırmanın amacı, ögrencilerin Ögrenci Seçme Sınavına yönelik tutumlarını bazı degiskenler açısından incelemektir. Arastırmanın çalısma grubunu Ankara’daki üç özel dershanenin 258 ögrencisi olusturmustur. Veriler likert tipi tutum ölçegi ile toplanmıstır. Tutum ölçeginin Cronbach-alfa degeri 0.88 olarak bulunmustur. Verilerin analizinde frekans, t testi, tek yönlü varyans analizi ve tutum ölçegi için faktör analizi kullanılmıstır. Yapılan istatistiksel analiz sonuçlarına göre; ögrencilerin Ögrenci Seçme Sınavına yönelik tutumları ögrencilerin özel dershaneye gidip-gitmeme durumuna göre degismektedir. Oysa ögrencilerin cinsiyetine, sınava girip-girmeme durumuna, tercih ettikleri bölüme ait puan türüne, lise türüne ve sınıflara göre degismemektedir.
