The Reception of Nietzsche In Turkish Thought: Trends and Figures

Abstract

The world of thought, which was under the thumb of Platonism until the 19th century, has suffered from a turning point and deflected itself into a new searching, exclusively towards the 20th century. One of the main charac-ters of this searching is undoubtedly Nietzsche. The name of Nietzsche has taken place in history as an important figure who affected almost every corner of that world in the adventure of passage from the 19th to 20th century. It is not surprising that this powerful figure has taken place in our intelligentsia ap-proximately during the last period of the Ottoman Empire. This name has a re-spected value in the heritage assigned from the Ottoman Empire to the Turk-ish Republic. In this process, Nietzsche’s thought has been handled and evalu-ated in various contexts or movements. The most significant outcome of these evaluations is that there is not just a single aspect of Nietzsche. While figures who enriched Nietzsche’s thought have submitted divergent appropriation, they also take him in the center stage of current philosophical concern. In this text, concordantly, by following a certain method carefully, we aim to enframe the appropriation manners of thought of Nietzsche who is one of the most sig-nificant domains of our philosophical adventure in the historical process.

19. yüzyıla kadar Platonculuğun etkisinde kalmış olan düşün dünyası, özel-likle 20. yüzyıla doğru bir kırılıma uğramış ve yeni arayışlara yönelmeye başla-mıştır. Bu arayışın temel aktörlerinden biri şüphesiz Nietzsche’dir. Nietzsche ismi, 19. yüzyıldan 20. yüzyıla doğru giden serüvende düşün dünyasının hemen her köşesinde etkisini hissettiren önemli bir isim olarak tarihteki yerini alır. Bu doğrultuda bu güçlü ismin, Osmanlı’nın son dönemleri ile birlikte bu coğrafyada da kendine yer bulmuş olması şaşırtıcı değildir. Osmanlı’dan Cumhuriyet’e dev-reden miras içerisinde Nietzsche ismi hatırı sayılır bir öneme sahiptir. Bu süreç te Nietzsche düşüncesi çeşitli bağlamlar/akımlar içerisinde ele alınmış ve değer-lendirilmiştir. Bu değerlendirmelerden çıkan en önemli sonuç geleneğimizde tekil bir Nietzsche hattının olmayışıdır. Nietzsche düşüncesini zenginleştiren figürler, farklı temellüklere imza atarken, aynı zamanda onu güncel felsefi ilgi-nin şüphesiz en önemli odağı haline getirmişlerdir. Bu bağlamda, bu çalışmada felsefi serüvenimizin en önemli ilgi odaklarından olan Nietzsche düşüncesinin tarihsel süreç içerisindeki alımlama biçimlerini, belli bir metot çerçevesinde kalmaya özen göstererek, haritalandırmayı amaçladık.
