Abstract

When works related to the thinking processes and educations of the children of the new millennium are investigated, it is remarkable that this new century of learning aims to create enquiring, creative and productive individuals. In this sense, it is seen that a great deal of workshops and academic studies have been conducted on philosophy for children (P4C) in the recent years. As there is no denial of benefiting from children’s literature works in these studies, it is also a scientifically proven approach for children to think philosophically. In this study, an analysis of children's boks that can be used in children's philosophical thinking education, from children's world classics to the present, has been analyzed. In this analysis, the characteristics of the books were analyzed thematically through content analysis, based on the cultural codes they came from. After the analysis, it is aimed to categorize the children’s books, with a conceptual taxonomy, used in philosophy for children. When the works that can be used in philosophy studies for children are examined, it is noteworthy that they deal with issues that approach the problems of the world with sensitivity. These issues are interpreted in a wide range of meanings such as making human beings respectful of living beings, transforming the universe into a planet where there is no war, nature is not destroyed and children do not die, building a simple world without racism, xenophobia, religious and gender discrimination, violence and terrorism, and creating a breathable world built with justice, equality and happiness. ....maybe, like a dream.
