Abstract

Educational environments are changing along with the advancing technology. There are also massive open online courses and e-learning environments that cross boundaries of time and space limitations within these educational environments. This paper examines the trends in parent-oriented content development studies in open and online environments. In this regard, 88 articles in the Web of Science database under the headings of mass open online courses, e-learning, and content development, including parents, were analyzed using the descriptive survey method. The findings are presented under the following headings: types of research, research method, data collection tools, sample size, sample population, learning domains, and keyword distributions. It is concluded that content development studies being conducted in open and online environments can reach large audiences; selecting parents as a sample will also contribute to parent development and developing the contents via digital media will aid in adapting to today's technological advancements.
