Known as an important liberal social reformer in the field of women's movement, Alice Salomon (1872-1948) is one of the first woman scientists who contributed to social work activities to become a science and profession in terms of leading the opening of social women's schools in Germany in the early 20th century. In this article, it will not only be explained her private life, her devotion to social sciences, how she overcame the obstacles to science for women in the negative conditions of the period and how she had to leave her country of birth because of unable to withstand the pressure of the Nazi Government within the framework of Salomon's biography. Beyond what stages the woman-oriented social work has passed through and how it developed in the historical process in Germany, firstly Salomon's world view on social work science will be examined. In this context, her thoughts on the relationship between social policy and social work, her ideas on the problem of social injustice, her view of the capitalist production system, the relationship between social reform and socialist revolution will be scrutinized. The aim of this work is to show the identity of women, critical view of women in patriarchal capitalist society within the framework of Salomon's world view on women-based social policies. In this direction, main issues such as women and sexual freedom, social democrat and feminist women's movement, the family burden of working women, union rights and strike will be discussed in depth based on Salomon's works.

Kadın hareketi alanında liberal sosyal reformcu olarak bilinen Alice Salomon (1872-1948), 20. yüzyılın başlarında Almanya’da sosyal kadın okullarının açılmasına öncülük yapması açısından sosyal çalışma faaliyetlerinin bilim ve meslek hâline gelmesine dünya çapında katkı sağlamış önemli kadın bilim insanlarından birisidir. Bu makalede sadece Salomon’un biyografisi çerçevesinde özel hayatı, sosyal bilimlere adanmışlığı, dönemin olumsuz şartları bağlamındaki kadınlara bilimin önüne konulan engelleri nasıl aştığını ve Nazi Hükümetinin baskılarına dayanamayarak doğduğu ülkesini nasıl terk etmek zorunda kaldığı anlatılacaktır. Bu doğrultuda özellikle kadın ve cinsel özgürlük, sosyal demokrat ve feminist kadın hareketi, çalışan kadınların ailevi yükü, sendikal hakları ve grev gibi ana konular, Salomon’un eserlerinden yola çıkılarak, derinlemesine ele alınacaktır.
