Abstract

The relationship between public expenditure and economic growth takes place among the subjects that have been studied in economics since the nineteenth century. While the studies about this topic have accelareted since the second half of I960's, in Turkey the same item was analysed first after the second half of 1990's.The relationship between public expenditure and economic growth was developed theoritically by Wagner and Keynes. While Wagner supported that an economic growth increases public expenditure, Keynes supported that public expenditure increase the economic growth. The main purpose of this study is to present the view of this relationship in Turkey in the period between 1963 and 2008. In order to reach this purpose Unit Room Test, Coentegration Test and Granger Causality Test are used.
