Abstract

Historically, the concept of Islamophobia, which has a very popular area of use especially after the attacks on September 11, 2001, is new as a term, but the historical, cultural and religious prejudices behind this concept have a very old history. In the last thirty years, especially after the Cold War and the introduction of the "Clash of Civilizations" thesis, the hatred and fear of Islam and Muslims, which have developed and settled in the academic and social language, has much deeper historical, political and cultural differences. It has a philosophical infrastructure and continuity. The orientalist point of view provided the basis for mentally constructing the concept of Islamophobia, which is today expressed by the modern world, and putting it into practice under the guise of Islamophobia. In this context, the starting points of orientalist approaches fed by medieval dogmas and how they evolved into the concept of Islamophobia by combining with secular and modern terms by exceeding the theological reasons that are now sheltered in today's world are presented to the reader. It has been revealed how the orientalist perception constitutes a step in the grounding of Islamophobia, and how it interprets the heap of information that is happening around the Christian world and how it creates images from it.
