Abstract

Protecting the resin-dentine interfaces, where failure is most common in adhesive resin restorations, from hydrolytic and enzymatic degradation is critical for the longevity of adhesive restorations. The idea of biomodification of dentine, which aims to reduce the disadvantages of adhesive systems, is a biomimetic approach mediated by bioactive agents to strengthen dentine by locally changing biomechanical and biochemical properties. The purpose of this review is to evaluate and summarize the efficacy of natural products, which are described as promising for hybrid layer remineralization and preservation of the resin-to-dentine interface, in line with the results of scientific research on the subject.
