Abstract

This study aimed to examine the associations among pre-service teachers, university supervisors and cooperating teachers regarding the evaluation of pre-service teachers’ classroom teaching performance. The participants of the study were 162 pre-service teachers from the Primary Mathematics Education Department of Kocaeli University, 5 university supervisors, and 25 cooperating teachers. A modified version of Teaching Evaluation Form developed by Higher Education Council was used as data collection instrument. Exploratory factor analysis yielded three dimesions namely, ‘content knowledge’, ‘instructional process’, and ‘classroom management’. To examine associations among the scores of different raters on these dimesions, bivariate correlation analysis was conducted. Results showed that pre-service teachers’ self-evaluation scores were more consistent with the evaluation scores of cooperating teachers. There were higher correlations in instructional process dimension among the three raters compared to classroom management and content knowledge dimensions. Finally, the correlations between the scores of university supervisors and cooperating teachers were significant for all three dimensions
