Abstract

Stem cells are potentially transformable into different cell types and are cells that have the power to regenerate themselves. The progress in technology and knowledge has demonstrated that stem cell therapy may be an alternative treatment for diseases in which current medicine is inadequate. The more common use of this treatment in central nervous system diseases has also provided new treatment modalities and application areas in neurosurgery. In our study, basic information about stem cells is shared first. Then, stem cell therapy technology applied in nervous system diseases and new developments in neurosurgery practice in our country are given by using the current literature. Stem cell treatment in nervous system diseases has become increasingly widespread and accepted both in the world and in our country.

Özet

Kök hücre farklı hücre tiplerine dönüşebilme potansiyeline ve kendisini yenileyebilme gücüne sahip hücrelere denir. İlerleyenteknoloji ve bilgi, güncel tıbbın yetersiz kaldığı hastalıklarda kök hücre tedavisini alternatif bir tedavi olabileceğini göstermektedir. Butedavinin santral sinir sistemi hastalıklarında da yaygınlaşması nöroşirürjide yeni tedavi modaliteleri ve uygulama alanı oluşmasınısağlamıştır. Derlemede ilk önce kök hücre hakkında temel bilgiler paylaşılmıştır. Sonrasında güncel literatürden faydalanılarak sinirsistemi hastalıklarında uygulanan kök hücre tedavisi hakkında bilgi verilmiş, bununla beraber kök hücre teknolojisinin gelişimi veülkemizde nöroşirurji pratiğindeki yeni gelişmeler ayrıntılandırılmıştır. Sinir sistemi hastalıklarında kök hücre tedavisinin, dünyada veülkemizde giderek yaygınlaştığı ve kabul gördüğü sonucuna varılmıştır.
