Abstract

Purpose : To evaluate the results of two different surgical treatment in unilateral sixth nerve paralysis. Methods : The preoperative and postoperative eye movements and angle of deviation were compared of 10 patients treated by lateral rectus resection medial rectus recession and 7 patients treated by medial rectus recession. inferior and superior rectus transposed joined to the adjacent lateral rectus. Results : The success rate of recession-resection procedure was 80%. while it was 57% in the muscle transposition procedure. Anterior segment ischemia was occured only in an patient. Conclusion : Recession-resection method may be the procedure of choice for the surgical treatment of sixth nerve palsies. Because of high success and low complication rate.

Özet

Amaç : Tek taraflı altıncı sinir paralizisinde uygulanan iki farklı cerrahinin tedavi sonuçlarını değerlendirmek.Yöntem : Geriletme-rezeksiyon uygulanan 10 hastanın ve üst-alt rektus transpozisyonu uygulanan 7 hastanın klinik özellikleri. ameliyat öncesi ve sonrası kayma açıları ile göz hareketleri retrospektif olarak değerlendirildi.Sonuçlar : Geriletme-rezeksiyon uygulanan hastalarda %80 başarı sağlanırken. kas transpozisyonu uygulananlarda başarı %57´dir. 1 olguda ön segment iskemisi gelişmiştir.Tartışma : Altıncı sinir paralizisinin cerrahi tedavisinde geriletme-rezeksiyon sonuçları gerek komplikasyonunun az olması gerekse başarı oranın yüksek olması nedeniyle tercih edilebilir.
