Abstract

Premature atrial fibrillation is an arrhythmia which should be treated immediately with drugs or electrical cardioversion. Treatment should start with drugs. If there is no response to medical treatment than electrical cardioversion should be tried. During electrical cardioversion different drugs are used for sedation. Propofol is first choice for that because of its rapid onset of analgesia and hipnosis. In this case study, we reported a patient which was planned for electrical cardioversion, and whose paroxysmal atrial fibrillation ceased and returned to normal sinus rhythm with a single injection of propofol without the need of electrocardioversion.
