Abstract

Background: We aimed to compare effects of levobupivacaine and levobupivacaine sufentanil combination on postoperative pain and hemodinamic parameters after thoracotomy using patient controlled anesthesia (PCA) via epidural catheter.Material and Method: A solution of 60 mL 0.9 % NaCl and 40 mL levobupivacaine was prepared for Group I (n=23) and 54 mL 0.9 % NaCl, 40 mL levobupivacaine and 6 mL sufentanil for Group II (n=24). Loading dose 5 mL, continue 5 mL, bolus 2 mL, lockout 30 min prepared. Intraoperative and postoperative heart rate, mean blood pressure and oxygen saturation was noted. Postoperative Visual Analog Scale (VAS) scores (at rest and with coughing) and Ramsey scores values were evaluated at 2, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20 and 24 hours. If there was additional analgesic requirement meperidine was used. Results: There was no statistical significant difference between intraoperative and postoperative heart rate, mean blood pressure and oxygen saturation values. VAS scores (at rest and with coughing) was statistically significant higher in Group I than Group II (p
