Abstract

Abu’r-Rayhan al-Biruni must be one of the brightest minds of all times. He became known as an eminent scientist, both during his life time and after his passaway, through his scientific books which contain unique knowledges. In this context, some medieval and modern scholars have writ-ten biographies of al-Biruni. This study is a modern Abu’r-Rayhan al-Bi-runi biography too. However, this study aimed to reach the original sources and in the light of these, to revise the modern one sand thus to say somet-hing new about Abu’r-Rayhan’s biography.

Özet

Ebû’r-Reyhân el-Bîrûnî, tüm zamanların en parlak zihinlerinden biri ol-malı. O, eşsiz bilgiler içeren bilimsel eserleri aracılığıyla, hem kendi yaşam döneminde ve hem de vefatından sonra ünlü bir bilim adamı olarak tanındı. Bu bağlamda, bazı ortaçağ ve modern dönem araştırmacıları el-Bîrûnî bi-yografisi kaleme aldılar. Bu çalışma da modern bir Ebû’r-Reyhân el-Bîrûnî biyografisidir. Bununla beraber, bu çalışmada orijinal kaynaklara ulaşıp, onların ışığı altında modern olanları gözden geçirmek ve böylece Ebû’r-Reyhân’ın hayat hikâyesine ilişkin yeni sözler söylemek hedeflenmiştir.
