Abstract

Aim: To evaluate the clinical features and the results of surgical treatment of the patients with Fuchs ' heterochromic iridocyclitis. Materyal and Methods: The records of the patients who were followed in University of Aberdeen Department of Ophthalmology were evaluated retrospectively. Twelve eyes of 12 patients with Fuchs' liel-erochromic iridocyclitis were included in the study. Results: In first examination, there were keratic precipitates in all patients, iris atrophy in 2 patients, iris nodules in 4 patients, hcterochromia in 7 patients, anterior chamber cells in 10 patients, vitreous opacities in 8 patients, and posterior subcapsular cataract in 0 patients. Intraocular pressure was normal in all patients. Four eyes experienced secondary glaucoma and 7 eyes developed cataract progression during the mean follow-up of 8.7 (2-20) years. Intraocular pressure was managed with topical medication in all eyes with secondary glaucoma. Six patients underwent phacoemulsification and posterior chamber lens implantation. Five of the patients underwent vitreclomy due to the vitreous opacities. The visual acu¬ity at final examination was 4/10 or better in all eases. There were no any other complications apart from a temporary conical edema in one case and posterior capsule opacifications in 3 eases. Conclusion: The most common complications are cataract, vitreous opacities and increased intraocular pressure in cases with Fuchs ' heterochromic iridocyclilis. Surgical intervention for cataract and vitreous opacities is safe and results in visual and semptomatic recovery.

Özet

Amaç: Fuchs 'un heterokromik iridosikliti olan olgularımızın klinik özelliklerini ve cerrahi tedavi sonuçlarını değerlendirmek. Gereç ve Yöntem: Ocak 1985 ile Ocak 2006 tarihleri arasında Aberdeen Üniversitesi. Oftalmoloji bölümünde takip edilen hastaların dosyalan geriye dönük olarak incelendi. Fuchs 'un heterokromik iridosikliti tanısıyla izlenmekte olan 12 hastanın 12 gözü çalışma kapsamına alındı. Bulgular: İlk başvurduğunda hastaların tümünde keratik presipitatlar. 2 hastada iris atrofisi, 4 hastada iris nodülleri. 7 hastada heterokromi, 10 hastada ön kamarada hücre. 8 hastada vitreus opasiteleri. 9 hastada arka subkapsüler katarakt vardı. Göz içi basıncı tüm hastalarda normal sınırlarda idi. Ortalama 8.7 (2-20) yıl takip süresince 4 hastada sekonder glokom gelişti. 7 hastada katarakt ilerledi.
