Abstract

Intracranial mass is seen rarely in pregnancy. Intracranial tumor in pregnancy may cause serious maternal-fetal complications, even maternal or fetal death. A 31 year-old multiparous woman at 28 weeks 2 days gestational age with intracranial mass and preterm premature rupture of membranes was referred to our clinic for further evaluation. She complained of headache, nausea and vomiting. Mannitol and steroid therapy (also for fetal lung maturation induction) were given to decrease intracranial pressure. A healthy 1090 g male infant was delivered by cesarean section at 29 weeks two days gestation with an indication of preterm labor. The clinical findings of increasing intracranial pressure syndrome were disappeared during the postpartum period and the patient was referred to neurosurgery department for further evaluation of the underlying primary disease. A case of pregnant woman with intracranial mass and preterm premature rupture of membranes and preterm labor is presented, whereas the characteristics, diagnosis and the management of this condition is further discussed.
