Abstract

OBJECTIVE: In our study; we investigated the effectiveness of Danazol and Triptorelin in improving the symptoms related with endometriosis and superiority of each other.STUDY DESIGN: Thirty eight patients who were proven to have endometriosis with laparoscopy or laparotomy between February 1999-August 2001 were enrolled for study. Twenty eight patients were injected 3.75 mg. Triptorelin once in each twenty eight days for six months. The other ten patients were given 200 mg. Danazol twice a day for six months. Before and after the treatment; main symptoms (dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, pelvic discomfort and pelvic pain) and gynecologic examination findings (pelvic tenderness and induration) were recorded and scored based on endometriosis classification system which is designed by Biberoğlu and Behrman.RESULTS: In Triptorelin group,we observed 50 % decrease in the ratio of patients complaining of dysmenorrhea. In Triptorelin group; we observed 28.6 % and 50 % decrease in the complaint of pelvic pain and dysparenia, respectively. In Danazol group, we observed 50 %, 30 %, 30 % decrease in the complaint of dysmenorrhea, pelvic pain and dyspareunia , respectively. The irregularity of menses was improved completely in Triptorelin group (32.1 % decrease), but in Danazol group there wasn't any improvement in the complaint of irregularity of menses. At the end of the treatment, the ratio of improvement of symptoms were similar and the both type of management had the similar effect. In the twelve months after the completion of the treatment eight patients became pregnant and they were all in the Triptorelin group. In Triptorelin group pregnancy rate were 38 %.CONCLUSİONS: Triptorelin and Danazol have the similar effect in the elimination of the main symptoms of endometriosis such as dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia and pelvic pain. Pregnancy chance may occur in infertile patients with endometriosis with the treatment of GnRH analog.

Her iki grubun tedavi bitiminde semptomların azalma oranları karşılaştırılınca benzer düzeyde etkili oldukları bulundu. Tedavi sonrası gebelik saptanan 8 olguya da triptorelin uygulanmıştı. Triptorelin grubunda fertilite oranı % 38 bulundu.SONUÇ: Triptorelin ve Danazol endometriozisin ana semptomları olan dismenore, disparoni ve pelvik ağrıyı gidermekte aynı derecede etkilidir. Endometriozisli infertil olgularda, GnRH analoğu verilerek gebelik şansı elde edilebilmektedir.
