Abstract

Purpose: In this study, we aimed to evaluate the adequacy of 1 % povidone-iodine solution that is used as catheter washing fluid to prevent bacterial contamination of the aspirator ends and planned to investigate whether the aspirator ends could still be reservoirs for microorganism after the placement in the disinfectant solution in the Intensive Care Unit of Anesthesiology and Reanimation Department of our hospital. Method: In the first group (n=19) aspirator ends were placed in the disinfectant solution and the second group(n=19), aspirator ends were left in the air. After 24 hours, cultures were obtained from the disinfectant solutions and aspirator ends and inoculated into the proper culture media and identified with the standart methods. Results: In the cultures of disinfectant solutions showed no positiveness. In 2 cultures of 19(3.8%), which were obtained from the ends left in the disinfectant solution and in the 10 of 19(52.6%) cultures obtained from the ends left in the air showed positiveness (p

Özet

Amaç: Bu çalışmada, hastanemiz Anesteziyoloji ve Reanirfiasyon Kliniği Yoğun Bakım Ünitesi'nde aspi-rasyon sıvılarının bakteriyel kontaminasyonunu önlemek için %1'lik povidon iyot solüsyonunun yeterli olup, olmayacağının; ayrıca aspirasyon sonrası tek kullanımlık sondalar atıldıktan sonra, aspirasyon uçlarının dezenfektan solüsyon içerisinde veya yıkandıktan sonra açıkta bırakılmasının bakteri eliminasyo-nuna etkisinin araştırılması planlanmıştır. Metod: İki grup halinde yapılan çalışmada, gruplardan birinde (n= 19) aspiratör uçları dezenfektan solüsyon içerisinde bekletilmiş, diğer grupta (n=19) aspiratör uçları açıkta bırakılmıştır. 24. saat sonunda dezenfektan solüsyonlar ve aspiratör uçlarından kültür alınmış, uygun besiyerlerine ekimler yapılmış ve üreyen bakteriler standart yöntemlerle tanımlanmıştır. Bulgular: Her iki grupta dezenfektan solüsyonlardan alınan toplam 38 örnekten hiçbirinde bakteriyel üreme saptanmamıştır. Dezenfektan içerisinde bekletilen 19 uçtan 2(% 3.8)'sinde, açıkta bekletilen 19 uçtan 10(%52.6)'unda bakteriyel üreme saptanmıştır (p
