Abstract

Ultrasonic motors which have features such as high holding torque, compact size, silent operation, no electromagnetic noise have recently begun to used for industrial, medical, robotic, space and automotive applications. However, the speed-ripple, speed-regulation, load torque-speed characteristics of this motor are not regular. To solve these problems, drive circuits including simplified mathematical model, adaptive model, variable-structure model, PI control, dual mode control and speed-tracking control strategy have been developed. In the present study, these drive circuits have been examined and the functions, operation performances and features of these drivers have been explained.
